On a beautiful Saturday in October the Club started the season with three convincing wins.
The 1st XV defeated a young but talented Dallas Athletic (DARC) team 54-10. The “Reds” started quickly and scored within two minutes of the opening whistle, and lead 24 to 0 at the half. First half tries by Ryan Bloom, Derek Thomas, Michael Von Bersig, Mark Strauss and Aaron MacDonald, the tries were converted by Mark Strauss.
In the second half tries were scored by Chris Harden, Chris Lang, Steve Delvisco and Ben Opplinger, conversions again by Mark Strauss who had a great game at fullback.

In a shortened 2nd XV match (second half was only 20 minutes) the “Reds” 2nd XV rolled out to a 43-0 win over DARC’s 2nd XV.
Andy Lai started the scoring 5 minutes into the match. The first half tries by David Guidry, Scotty Greenwald and Kelly Kolberg, conversions made by John Pierce.
(Kelly Kolberg just returned from the USA Eagles 7’s camp) In the second half young Austin Nix scored two tries and Patrick Richards (Mark Richards son) also scored. Tries converted by JT Clark.
In the first match of the day, the 3rd XV routed a determined Dallas Diablo team by a scored of 92-19. The team was lead by the Dwight Coleman with three tries and three tries by ageless Pat Antaki. Two tries were scored by Scott Greenwald. Chris Panatier, Karl Whitcomb, and David Dodge, also scored.
A great day for the club as 45 players took part in the wins. Coach’s Jeff Kolberg and Ren Evans were pleased with the results, but saw this as only a first step toward a successful season.
